In February 2020, the Museum opened its reimagined and redesigned PlaySpace exhibit. Designed specifically to provide infants, toddlers, and their families, with a safe, comfortable, and developmentally appropriate environment for play and exploration, the exhibit quickly drew praise from visitors. Unique in size and scope, the new PlaySpace allows children to experience the social, tactile, material, and spatial dimensions of play and learning critical to healthy development.
The new exhibit was developed and designed by the Museum’s own team of creative professionals. It reflects the need for very young children to explore both independently and with their adults, take age appropriate risks, engage in rich pretend play, experiment with sensory materials and climb, jump, slide, and crawl.
