Developed for Sun Life Corporation as a web-based virtual play and learning resource for their employees during the summer of 2020, Explore It offered both offline and online activities for children ages 4-6 and 7-9 presented in themed modules including In the Wild, In the Human Body, In Outer Space, In the Construction Zone, In Your Imagination, and In the Water. The online content was delivered by Museum “guides” using a combination of video presentations and activity sheets allowing users to explore at their own pace. Children had the opportunity to do hands-on activities and to stretch their creativity through multiple forms of expression. Kids could make things, practice observing and asking questions, and use both materials from around the house and materials they have never seen before.
Sun Life and the Museum also made the Explore It program available to several Boston area organizations including the YMCA of Greater Boston Roxbury Branch, Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center, Hyde Square Task Force, South Boston Neighborhood House, and P.A. Shaw Elementary School in Dorchester.
